What is ‘Life Not Lies’?

I started Life Not Lies as a ministry to write and preach, disciple and counsel people into the Exchanged Life. That is, Christ as Life. Christ in you, the hope of glory. Colossians 1:27

Life, Not Lies is a ‘FROM not FOR’ mentality. The lie has been that I must live for God. He saved me, now I must work for Him to make up for that beyond amazing grace. It is true that His goodness and grace is nothing we deserve. However, grace isn’t something He simply gives out like candy at a parade, He gives Himself! Grace is a person, Jesus Christ. The idea that I must live FOR God has shifted Believers into a performance based trap. It isn’t working, because it was never meant to work. Performance is the lie. True Abundant Life is living FROM who I am in Christ. Certainly not all are in Christ, it’s also true that not everyone in Christ knows what that really means, ‘Christ in me.’

We need to remove performance and add trust! For the modern church, that’s frightening. Simply trusting grace is viewed as a license to sin. The thinking is, if we offer too much grace people will be running naked in the streets. Realistically, the only reason we would do that is because we don’t KNOW who we are IN CHRIST. 

For far too long believers have been told not to trust their heart. Jeremiah 17:9 …”the heart is desperately wicked, beyond cure.” I can see how grace becomes a license to sin if that’s the mentality engrained in our thinking. ‘My nature as bad, flawed, ugly, failed, and worthless ‘- so don’t trust yourself. And this is where the gospel comes in!

If we could shift to equipping the children of God to know who they are in Christ, they will begin to live FROM not FOR. (Life, not Lies). They will live from their true identity, making the desires for the world less and less. Suddenly, it’s easier to do ‘right’ because it’s the cry of our heart which has been made new. Ezekiel 36:26 speaks of the NEW heart and the NEW spirit within us. That’s the gospel. That’s what Grace does. May we not be stuck back in Egypt with a wicked heart, step into believing and knowing that as a result of new birth, in Christ, I am a new creation, 2 Corinthians 5:17. How is the old gone? Because it’s been crucified with Christ, Galatians 2:20.

It must be clarified that our Adamic heart was indeed desperately wicked and beyond cure. And that is why it was crucified with Christ and no longer lives! In Adam we were nothing but sinners. And thanks be to God, we are now saints! 1 Corinthians 15:45 says, “the first man Adam became a living being; the last Adam [Christ] became a life-giving spirit.”

Christ is no longer number one in my life. He is not a priority, He is my life!

Many have accepted Christ as Savior and Lord, but they are still wandering, striving, wondering, ‘where’s the life? They’ve been conditioned to live FOR Him. Christ is no longer number one in my life. He is not a priority, He is my life! Christ is Life! You might know Him as Savior, I want you to know Him as Life, so you can live FROM Him. It’s so much easier, the burden is light. You can actually be you, even on your worst day, because you are new!
